Review of Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (1989) by Taylor C — 18 Jul 2009
Little Nemo is a great piece of nostalgia from my childhood. It takes you into another world full of childhood dreams and imagination.
While it may seem like childish to some, let me say that Little Nemo is definitely not a childish movie. It's an hour and a half long adventure, into a place where the impossible can happen, and does. The characters are voiced very well, and seem almost lifelike at times, the animation is dazzling and every last detail is fleshed out.
It's a great movie for kids and adults alike. The story is simple enough for kids to understand, and adults will feel compelled to root for the characters as they bravely go out to save their kingdom.
To me, it's absolutely perfect, and while I can see why some might not want to watch this movie, or even may not like it, I believe that if you have a heart, and still marvel at the greatness of animation, and are perhaps even still attached to some of your childhood dreams and fantasies (and who isn't?), you will love this movie.
It's my all-time favorite, and I imagine it will be forever. I recommend anyone to watch this movie, or even to look into it's history. The original Little Nemo comics date back almost 100 years now, and they were a revolution back in their day. Yet no one knows what Little Nemo is. If you ask anyone, they think you're talking about Finding Nemo.
Watch it by yourself, with your kids, whatever. Little Nemo is a film you won't soon forget.
