Review of Little Miss Sunshine (2006) by Anthony C — 08 Dec 2015
I wonder if this movie is great because of the story or the film itself. I kept thinking that I wanted to read the book because I was so intrigued by some of the characters. I wanted to know more about each family member.
This is a fantastic performance by all of the actors. You should expect a serious comedy, with a deep message at heart. The ending of the movie--spoiler coming--is as inspiring as reading through the adventures of Bilbo Baggins.
A rebellion to the superficiality, patriarchy, and hypocrisy of beauty pageants (or just society in general?) all the family members reunited around Olive to dance to "super freak."--What a wonderful story, great acting (Steve Carrel is good doing a "serious" role) and an empowering ending.
Recommended to everyone, made my top 10 movies of all time.
