Review of Little Miss Sunshine (2006) by Thomas W — 20 Jan 2012
I don't often go in for family dramas. I mean, what is there to know? People discover that they are different people with unique tastes and paths in life, lesson learned, roll the credits, right? I thought so, too, until I watched this movie.
The pains of staying together are actually what join the cast together, as each comes to appreciate the uniqueness of another another and how it completes their family, where before they had spent years drifting further and further apart.
This is not a cutesy film, but a fairly honest attempt to make sense of the continuously bloating concept of the American family. Very well done.
