Review of Little Fugitive (1953) by David S — 30 Jan 2008
Simplicity... yet with that simplicity is a pureness and innocence no longer seen in film. No plot, just life as it is on a daily basis. Influenced by Italian Neo-Realism, and in turn influenced the French New Wave.
François Truffaut said, "Our New Wave would never have come into being if it hadn't been for the young Morris Engel, with his fine Little Fugitive." Indeed, this is an important picture.
