Review of Little Fockers (2010) by Jonathan B — 15 Jun 2011
Stiller, De Niro, and the rest of the wacky cast are back for Round 3 in the life of the Focker clan, but it doesnâ(TM)t hold up as well as the first 2. Granted, the third film in most franchises usually doesnâ(TM)t have the staying power and the longevity so itâ(TM)s predecessors. In this case, this film seems like nothing more than a money grab. It doesnâ(TM)t say anything new, as we have already met every relevant cast member.
Itâ(TM)s just meant to play on the word âFockerâ? and tell bad fart and penis jokes. Stiller and especially De Niro do their best with the material they have to work with. Jessica Alba is pretty embarrassing as a hot pharmaceutical rep who takes a liking to Stillerâ(TM)s Gaylord Focker. She plays as over-the-top as any role in recent memory. The rest of the cast is pretty ho-hum. Most seemed like they were just mailing it in. Not even an erect De Niro could save this third installment. If this is the end of the Focker franchise, it went out with whimper instead of a bang.
