Review of Little Children (2006) by Matthew B — 29 Aug 2010
This is a magnificently crafted film - a superb adaptation of the Tom Perrotta novel, laughably sarcastic narrations by Will Lyman (the melodramatic football sequence is brilliant), astounding cinematography, and noticeably brilliant editing.
Good editing is, generally, editing which is recognizable only subconsciously; however, the pacing and dramatic cuts - such as those to some of the sex scenes - are remarkable, almost shocking. Excellent performances from Kate Winslet, Gregg Edelman, Phyllis Somerville, and, of course, the unnervingly infantile Jackie Earle Haley amaze throughout.
