Review of Little Children (2006) by Ross W — 11 Jan 2010
The movie was so fascinating and enthralling just from the start. The voiceover filling you in on the characters feeling and thoughts giving you an inside into what they are like by not just showing us various scenes trying to fill in blanks.
The movie starts of as this cosy suburban American life in a small town where everybody knows about everybody else. But not everything is as it seems, with local interest in this man who was arrested for indecent nudity in front of a minor and was being released after two years in prison. The normal day to day life of women in this town and their wishes and desires and how fitting in can be compromising to who you are. This movie is about living your life and not being just constant in one place, but its actually much more then that. It even compares comparison to books which are being described in a book meeting. The acting was superb and it left me in shocks at many places like the Ronnie character masturbating in the car. Totally out of the blue even knowing what he is possible capable off.
If I had to give this movie a rating it would be a solid 8/10, but it just was more then that it leaves you with questions, or makes you have empathy for the characters making you decide which is right and what you would do. Choose passion or a so called normal existence.
Jackie Earle Haley performance is terrific.
