Review of Little Caesar (1931) by Simret Z — 22 Jun 2007
If this rating system went up to ten stars, I'd still want to give this one 12. I only recently learned that EVERY single film in this genre has its format directly lifted from this flick - from the prominent role of food, to the maternal figure, and the tragic hero dynamic.
This symbolism's excellent too. Most of the slang used in this film is still in play today, and it really helps you bridge the generational gaps and identify with the character. Also, the Chicago accents were great.
Funny alone, HILARIOUS in a group.
