Review of Little Boy (2015) by Maria N — 26 Apr 2015
Little Boy is unarguably beautiful to behold---n uniquely so. Yet some critics are simply choosing to overlook Alejandro Monteverde's genius in cinematography. He deserves an award. The movie is packed, but what I enjoyed was unpacking it, and thanks to the unhurried pace of the movie, I was able to do this. Jacob Salvati's performace is stellar---he has a gift, but, again, some critics are overlooking this OBVIOUS fact. I simply LOVED his performance, it is memorable and deserves an Oscar!
The movie offers many good lessons, but it takes a child-like heart to be able to see this. Those who are hardened, jaded, or desensitized by the run-of-the-mill Hollywood movies may miss the whole point of the movie, which among many other things is: that we all need to awaken the Little Boy dormant in all of us so we can enjoy the sense of wander in the film.
Let's us heed and ponder over Jesus' words to his jaded apostles: unless we become like one of these (children e.g Jacob Salvati), we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Nor will we enter paradise if we do not feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison, bury the dead...sadly, some people are dead inside and they really need Little Boy to awaken them.
