Review of Little Boy (2015) by Gary G — 21 May 2015
I normally write a small introduction and a synopsis before writing my reviews but with this film, I will go straight to the point: "Little Boy" is one of the most lazily written films I´ve ever seen. The film has some heart and presents some interesting angles of the USA in the World War II time period but it has also so many elements that are frustrating and angering. The story is simple, the acting is average, the script does even follow the basic rules of screenwriting, the directing doesn't know how to treat this film, at time it is a story about faith and religion but at others it seem to be mocking it; the cinematography is constantly blurry, there as a big amount of clichés, and the characters are nothing more than stereotypes. But the biggest problem with this film is its climax of its story, it extremely predictable but the use of that historical event as the happy ending of a film is, as the RT consensus says, offensive as it is in extremely bad taste to use it and even more that it is thrown away as soon as its introduced when it could have been more important.
"Little Boy" is a perfect example of a cheap, manipulative, and forgettable film that hits every cliché possible. If you enjoy sentimental films and don't think a lot when you see a film, you will definitely enjoy this film more than I, if not this is a definitive skip.
