Review of Little Boy (2015) by Aaron C — 28 Nov 2015
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It is in no way a cinematic achievement. However, it carries emotional weight, both joy and heartache. It carries a message of hope and faith without bashing you over the head with it. Don't write this film off as a faith-based B-movie. It has those elements. If you can look past it and enjoy the story you will not be disappointed.
The acting was quite good (the only miss being Kevin James, out of nowhere). Overall this film is family friendly, although there is some violence. I don't think it warranted a PG13 rating--should have been PG.
This film asks many questions about faith. What is faith? Where does it come from? Is faith fantasy? Can faith be made stronger (or weaker)? Are there different types of faith? And it is all building up to the final act--what will come of the boy's faith? The answers are not as obvious as you might expect.
