Review of Little Big Man (1970) by Courtney G — 24 Apr 2009
This offbeat western satire gets good mileage from Dustin Hoffman's amusing lead performance and Arthur Penn's direction strikes the right balance between comedy and poignance. Some of the humor is a bit too broad (the character of a swishy gay Indian may have seemed daring in 1970, but it's kind of embarrassing today), but overall, this is still a fun romp.
An overlooked gem from the '70s that deserves to be rediscovered.
