Review of Little Big Man (1970) by I Believe In Harvey Dent — 01 Sep 2008
Without a doubt one of the most underrated movies of all time, this movie does for the western what "Forrest Gump" did for baby-boomers; somehow manage to cover the most interesting thirty years in western history.
(1846-1876), and somehow manage to not get confusing and jumbled. Based off my favorite book, Dustin Hoffman's Jack Crabb hilariously stumbles through the American frontier, living with the Cheyenne Indians, drinking with Wild Bill Hickok, riding with General Custer, and having an extremely bizarre, hilarious relationship with his adopted mother. At the same time, it's an extremely heartbreaking, graphic illustration of the U.S. government's treatment of the American Indian. It also does a better job of portraying the Plains tribes than "Dances With Wolves" ever did. More people need to see this movie.
