Review of Little Ashes (2008) by Danielle D — 10 Jun 2009
Little Ashes was so horrible. I cannot believe I paid to see that. It may sound harsh. The movie was poorly casted. Rob Pattison just reminded me of Edward acting like Salvador Dali. He's not really dynamic at all.
This was an opportunity to grow but he did not really go for it, I think. He's awesome at playing a hot miserable loner, but I feel like that's it. Salvador Dali was a flamboyant, crazy, wonderful artist and Pattison really didn't portray that on the screen and that kind of frustrated me.
A film about that particular era of time should've come out spectacular, but it didn't. Luis Bunuel and all the other people that paved the way for artist in the twenties, I didn't really see a way a director could go wrong with that but it just went downhill from there the moment I saw Robert.
Did he do his research at all?
