Review of Little Ashes (2008) by Mandi M — 19 Jun 2009
I really liked the film. Robert Pattinson's performance is astonishingly good (excepting his atrociously bad Spanish accent). You want to cry for the horrible situation Dali and Lorca are in in the film.
They did skip Buñuel's assassination at the end, but it isn't pivotal to the story since the movie pretty much centers around Dali and Lorca's love and mildly focuses on the political situation in Spain.
The humourous moments in the film are extremely funny and done brilliantly by Pattinson. The movie is well-acted but is obviously done by an amateur director. I was concerned the film wouldn't be historically accurate, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was.
I think it is a film well worth seeing.
