Review of Little Ashes (2008) by Lauren L — 16 Feb 2010
I always thought of Dali as a pathetic clown - now I realised what a sad clown he must have been. I actually think Pattinson managed to pretty well show a conflicted and complicated personality: someone who's attracted to a man and yet isn't capable of crossing the line, however much he'd like to. shy and arrogant. revolutionary and conservative. people are rarely consistent, and can rarely be characterised with only a couple of dominant traits. This movie managed to show the complexities, and I really like that. I feel it's helped me understand much much more about the art of the main characters, too - and that's a clear sign of success.
And: I find love between men incredibly beautiful and endearing.
