Review of Little Ashes (2008) by Lilianetty L — 09 Aug 2011
I only saw this film because I needed to see what I have read of Federico Garcia Lorca (writter of the trilogy that includes Bodas de Sangre, Yerma and The House of Bernarda Alba). I think his story is very interesting, and that his plays are also wonderfully done in stage.
Plot: Lorca's life and Dali's life. How this two met in a capus/university and how both works got to life...even an unexpected romance. I read a lot of both works, past lifes, and...sex was never a part of that story. 7th Art is wonderful. Just saying. Stars for the crew and screen-play adaptation of Lorca's wonderful life.
Acting: Javier as Federico was amazing and stunning. I think he was the most talented of all the actors and actresses in the cast. Robert as Dali was great sometimes, but it was obvious he needed just a few skills to just look like Dali was at that time. He did a great job anyway. Marina as Magdalena (I think Lorca somehow was inspired by his women and the other friend, Adela, for The House of Bernarda Alba), was amazing too. Esther as Adela was wonderful and stunning in her role, needed a few skills, but still was great. The rest of the cast was ok.
Music: Very ole style, bien espa~ol con furia y pasion. Loved it. Stars for the musicians and those who helped in the score.
To end this review, 3 stars of 5. It also tells the story behind the Civil War in Spain in that time (the war en si, was between 1936-39 if I'm not mistaking). Enjoy and HASTA LA PROXIMA AMIGOS/AS! CHAO! BLESS YOU ALL!!!
