Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Lee M — 10 Sep 2008
With a cast like this I was eager to see this film. It's message seemed more to the middle-right than the expected left-leaning film I anticipated seeing. The core plot just never really hit home and it felt rather lost and unresolved at the end. This was unsettling, but then again the Iraq and Afghanistan war isn't over either. One may by the same token question,"Wasn't this movie jumping the gun, and made a little too soon regarding the subject matter?".
Difficult to say, but as interested as I was in all the socio-political perspectives, I felt equally unsatisfied and let down. I agree that we all must be active in making the world a better place rather than just playing lip-service. Perhaps this was Redford's vehicle for doing just that and giving us a deeper understanding of America's 'war on terror'.
