Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Mark S — 12 Dec 2008
There have been too many films like this made in a short period of time; I don't know why I keep coming back to them really. I think it's too soon to be making so many films about America's war in Afghanistan and invasion/occupation of Iraq.
Better films will be made when we have more retrospection on the issues. Filmmakers may also be able to avoid preaching when the issues are no longer ongoing. I like the actors involved with the project and Redford's heart was in the right place, but I don't think this film either covers any new ground or adds to what has already been established in the recent past.
You can probably learn more about America's politics by watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
