Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Mikael K — 07 Feb 2009
I really like what this movie is trying to be. It has a very dialog heavy, literate script, a very ambitious and interesting political subject and a promising cast. I find Tom Cruise very annoying, so he was actually perfect for a very annoying role.
The idea of two dialogs about the war on Iraq running concurrently with events in the front is a very good one, and I must say that the characters do sound very real. I just would have wished for some more interesting political thoughts.
The film is filled with speech but it's all so very obvious in its content. Quite frankly, the characters aren't smart enough for the subject matter. Every piece of dialogue is like the most simple headline from a medium that tries to reach those with very little knowledge or opinions.
