Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Tim R — 10 May 2011
The quick start forces us to be on our toes right away. Director Robert Redford gives us pieces, but he doesn't give use the whole pie. When Tom Cruise wants Merryl Streep to work on his story for him, I can't help feeling like I am part of the mission. The challenge of writing a better story than Merryl Streep, while obviously impossible, is tempting. Too tempting to ignore. So we have no choice but to embark on this fool's errand. Thankfully, throughout the movie we are given many sides of the debate, and we can even fill in the blanks at the end. Be prepared to think, ogle, grin, and cringe throughout this thoughtful thriller.
If that does not convince you to see it, then consider how good Robert Redford looks in denim, and multiply that by 92 minutes.
