Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Jason C — 18 Dec 2011
Wonders who wrote the movie synopsis. The Army ranger injuries don't set off anything. Everything is happening simultaneously (Cruise gets a phone call about the Army Rangers' status in the middle of his Meryl Streep interview). Most of this movie seems to be background noise and apparently what maters most to Redford is the Cruise/Streep interview where Streep gets to criticize the Iraq war quite thoroughly (even though the movie centers around an Afghanistan operation). Poor Redford's movie was overcome by events: a) there was a surge in Iraq, and it worked. b) there is going to be a surge in Afghanistan.
Overall, this movie was made and directed by those ignorant of military policy. Even the jargon used is flawed. I've seen other anti-Iraq war movies that were much better than this.
