Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Hannah M — 16 Aug 2008
Very interesting narrative on robert redford's views of what's happening in afghanistan. the film also brings to the table the sad truth that many, many americans are preoccupied with stupid, insignificant things like entertainment, the latest celebrity gossip, etc, and while that's all fine and good, what they should be MORE concerned about is what's going on in the world.
who's in power and what those leaders are doing to change the way they, their neighbors, and their favorite celebrities live. even big things like the ways in which terrorists should be stopped. serious stuff.
but instead these americans sit on their couches and watch tv, ignoring what is happening in the world around them and how their lives will be affected by it. it doesn't even cross their minds that maybe they should be doing something noble and honorable, and prove themselves worthy as a citizen of the united states of america.
maybe, just maybe, those same lazy, disloyal american men and women should be considering enlisting in the army. if a person is able, it is a moral crime to refuse to serve the country in which they live.
lions for lambs covers that whole topic and draw some very respectable conclusions. this is a very well-constructed film, and I especially love how the 3 stories the movie revolves around can change back and forth so effortlessly and without resulting in any confusion.
