Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Heero B — 21 Sep 2008
I cannot believe the bad ratings this movie recieved.
The critics freak when the message is "think for yourself" as redford character tells his student. They need to be led by the hand and told who to hate. Grey areas make them think its a bad movie.
I thought the movie was amazingly good. I think the mainstream critics.
Didn't like being told that they were part of the problem, puppets for government propaganda who have lost their journalistic integrity.
Media dropped the ball and I guess the critics don't want to admit it, bad reviews = less people will likely see the flick.
I think it's such a good movie because it does make you ask questions, it.
Doesn't give you all the answers and kind of leaves you feeling like the movie.
Is incomplete. But incomplete on purpose, it leaves you to find the parallels.
And connect the dots.
Even in the movie the reporter (Streep) says that "We had all the information we just failed to connect the dots.".
The acting is great, Cruise, Streep, and Redford all gave very solid and believable performances. The "action" portions of the movie featuring the two stranded/wounded soldiers were very well done with excellent special effects.
I really like Robert Redfords character... and the story of the GI's... The.
Part where they throw up thier enlistment letters on the Overhead was.
Overpowering. I kinda makes us look like cowardss for arguing about stuff, constant debate and blogging etc. when there are people like that who do so much more.
I really just think people didn't understand the movie. They weren't told what to think and what to feel and interpreted the movie as anti-Bush propoganda. That is the exact opposite of what the movie was trying to do.
