Review of Lions for Lambs (2007) by Greg P — 23 Dec 2008
Let me first admit, I'm a bit of a political junky. Not a major one, but I am more intrigued by geopolitical ramificaition than the average moviegoer. I'm also a Robert Redford fan, I'm sure he COULD do wrong by me, but he hasn't yet, and I'm not expecting it to happen. So admitting those bias in my opinion, I have to say that I loved this film. Alternating between these stories and discussions of each side of the issue, the politician trying to sell the war to the reporter who doesn't want to get misled again; the poli-sci professor trying to get a student who he thinks might be able to do something with himself someday interested in the class, while the student defends his apathy; and the soldiers who are actually over in this war.
Marvelously written how the stories overlap, combine, inform each other, and the actors do very well to bring their characters and their dialogue to life. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who wants an intelligent discussion of how we got where we are, in so many respects.
