Review of Lionheart (1990) by Shane D — 16 Sep 2013
There is no shortage of films early in Van Damme's career which feature his character involved in some kind of underground street fighting organisation, fighting for the honour or a village/brother/woman.
Of the Kickboxer/Bloodsport/Wrong Bet trilogy, you may actually have 3 of the better films of his career (if that means anything). Once again, there is little of the Van Damme awkward comedy that he is actually capable of (perhaps unintentionally) but despite his character's wooden persona, the rest clicks along reasonably well for a one dimensional 80s actioner.
One star per roundhouse kick, and a third for the self restraint shown NOT to feature JCVD doing the splits (unless I blinked and missed it).
