Review of Lion (2016) by D371N 5 — 27 Feb 2017
Lion is a good movie, but I have many problems with it. The beginning is easily the best part of the movie, it's suspense full, well shot, and great acting. The middle is what pulls this movie down, when we skip 20 years his life, it drags on and on, to the point where I felt like sleeping.
The love interest, Lucy, is just kind of there and isn't fleshed out. His adopted mother and father, are alright, but I don't think they deserved their own subplot, the main point of the movie is him finding his family, but the adopted father and mother subplot takes away from the main point.
The ending is where it starts to pick up again, and that's all I'll say to avoid spoilers. Overall great beginning, weak middle, and a good end.
