Review of Lion (2015) by Janis A — 11 Feb 2017
Very honest, emotional and also unforgiving movie about a boy who got separated from his family and ended up being adopted by a wealthy and loving couple from Tasmania . The exceptional about the movie is not the teary sort-of happy ending, but the effort it takes to also portray the psychological problems and difficulties that adoptions can bring for both the parents and the adopted kids, especiall kids like saroo and mantosh who " come with baggage" as saroo himself put it.
Of course the undeniable uplifting message and ending of the movie make it a crowd pleaser , but I like that the director and producers decided to avoid the usual cliches and simplicities to show a deeper and also at times uncomfortable part of the story.
