Review of Lion (2015) by The D — 26 Feb 2017
Without a doubt, the Big 3 films of 2016 were Lion, La La Land and Moonlight; all the others are a big step down. All are 5-stars yet for very different reasons. Lion is a very simple yet powerful (and true) story.
Oscar nominations should be extended to at least three here (Patel, Kidman, and little Sunny Pawar). A few editing decisions bothered me but a story well told nonetheless. It moved me deeply even though I knew exactly what was coming.
Try not to read spoilers and trust me here! A VERY moving story well told.
