Day-Lewis earned his Oscar for sure in Spielberg's epic on the passing of the constitutional amendment to abolish slavery. A stellar cast, superb direction and a well-crafted script keep this lengthy film suspenseful, intriguing and tense- even when you know the outcome, seeing how things got to the finish is still amazing.
