Review of Lincoln (2012) by Dave B — 20 Jan 2014
Rather than a drawn out biography chronicling Lincoln's extraordinary life, "Lincoln" focuses on the final months of his life and his quest to change the course of American history. It was for this reason this movie caught me off guard. Daniel Day-Lewis' ability to transcend the screen into a realistic portrait of a man, literally, carrying the world on his shoulders, is an amazing feat of acting to humanise Lincoln beyond the classic pictures and legend we've come to read in encyclopaedias.
Spielberg is at his best when bringing stories of injustice to the big screen.
Brilliant but very dialogue heavy so don't bring this out if you're hoping for entertainment.
