Review of Limitless (2011) by M W — 06 Dec 2012
Really enjoyed it, especially the ending. I do see what some people are saying about it being kind of narrow. If you were truly limitless would making millions on stocks and running for political office really be where you would go with it, especially for a guy who wanted to be a writer? for me it's not so farfetched to think that a person with a big ego in today's society would do exactly that.
Not to mention, if you really want to have an influence on the world what better way to do it than with lots of money and corporate/political power? It has your typical action movie problems, bad guys carrying knives when they should have guns, having horrible aim, one too many close calls but I really didn't mind any of that.
It's odd to think that there are people who really hate this movie that much. If you were thinking of watching it I absolutely recommend that you do. One small hang up I had is the premise that we only use 10% of our brains and this drug would let you access the rest.
It's just not true. We do use pretty much 100% of our brains. But, first of all, I guess he could have meant in concordance with one another. (More than 10% at a time.) Or what I actually think, is that he was probably just trying to explain what it feels like, rather than what actually happens.
Not sure why I care that this isn't true when it's in a fictional movie about a fictional drug.
