Review of Limitless (2011) by Joshybean — 31 May 2023
Its a fun, over the top journey that wont bore you but will definitely make you question the movie. I want to talk about the ending and the overall message of the movie. It seemed like the movie was heading in the direction that there is no shortcut and by taking the enhancing drugs you will save yourself in the short term but kill yourself long term.
It makes you feel that you are doing well but in reality you are dying. But then, all the sudden, Bradley Cooper goes "let me just lower the dose" OMG GENIUS AND NOW HE TAKES IT WITH NO CONSEQUENCES.
The movies message is that its worth taking the drugs in the short term because in the end you can become senator and get your girlfriend back after you cheat on her multiple times and lie to her constantly.
If you cheat and completely change who you are and everything that you do you will become super successful and everyone will love you. Like what the **** why did he win he makes no sense. The movie has some great qualities and De Niro does a great job.
Also the reveal that more people are on NZT and it can explain may peoples overnight success was a cool reveal. De Niros little monologue on success is up there with my favorite moments of his. If you havent seen it, I think this is worth a single watch.
