Review of Lilo & Stitch (2002) by Dan H — 18 Aug 2015
Honestly, this is one of Disney's better modern films. Stitch, a monstrous and evil experimental creation designed to cause mischief, mayhem and destruction wherever he goes escapes from his rightly deserved exile and lands on Earth where he is mistaken for a wounded dog and is adopted by orphan child Lilo, who makes it her mission to reform this very badly behaved and downright mean monster.
During his journey Stitch learns the meaning of family, and might just find where he belongs. It's a touching, quite funny, and very sad film. The animation is beautiful and unique, the characters are memorable and likable (Even Stitch, who starts out adorable but evil, winds up becoming quite lovable by the end), and the voice work is quite good.
It's not Disney's best, but it is still a very good film and makes for a noteworthy addition to the company's rich legacy of animated tales.
