Review of Lilo & Stitch (2002) by Zach N — 01 Jun 2010
With Pixar aside, any and all Disney animation currently is kaput. It is all but unimpressive and unoriginal. However, "Lilo and Stitch" is the last truly great hand drawn Disney film to be released.
I forgot how great an animated film this is. It combines some good hand drawn animation with some newer edgy computer generated images, such as spaceships and waves. It has some entertaining action, with alot of emotion at the heart of it all.
The soundtrack is also fantastic. It has alot of good Elvis Presley songs and some even greater original Hawaiian songs that fit the mood just right. The plot is fairly original, and the script is surprisingly witty.
The humor is not overly kid friendly and doesn't try to sell out. Stitch isn't incredibly annoying due to the scenes involving his search for a family and feelings of being an "ugly duckling".
Overall, it's a great family movie for kids and adults. It's Disney's last great hand drawn animation in my eyes.
