Review of Lilo & Stitch (2002) by Lee B — 14 Aug 2011

This was a pretty unique story for the Disney line of movies. It still followed the usual narrative arc for a movie, but it had very unique characters. And a surprisingly good wit and humor to it. I don't know how well the child neglect and endangerment piece goes over with the masses, but as a movie, it was a well developed story.

As for the animation, movies like this, even during the down period of Disney, still have a great look to it. I take something like A Shark's Tale (which I admittedly have not made it all the way through), and it looks like they just tried to detail everything out like a city underwater. Take this, throw this in, make this look like that, etc. This movie too a tropical setting, and space setting, and gave it a look and feel. It was a visually interesting movie that had a story that didn't distract, and even made you stay interested.
