Review of Lilo & Stitch (2002) by Matthew R — 15 May 2014

A cute animation feature. Stitch makes a good and cute soft toy companion. Story is quite interesting. In a alien planet, a scientist Dr. Jumba created a new monster and name it Experiment 626. He is sentence to imprisonment and the monster to banish to space.

It broke free, escape in a cruiser and go into hyper drive. It will land on Earth as calculated and the grand councilwoman want to destroy the planet. Agent Pleakley says Earth is a protected wildlife reserve and they use it to breed mosquito which is also endangered.

Grand councilwoman decide to send Jumba to capture 626 in exchange for his freedom. In Hawaii, a girl Lilo is a naughty and violent kid. She bit a girl during a dance practice. Nani is her sister who also can't control her.

Social worker Cobra Bubbles visited and find out things aren't good as mentioned. Lilo saw the ship of 626 and thought it is a falling star. 626 was hit by trucks and fainted. In the animal shelter, the dogs are afraid of 626.

It escape but Jumba is shooting at it. 626 go back the shelter and keep its extra arms and spikes, pretend to be a dog and Lilo adopted it, naming it Stitch. It use her as shield to prevent Jumba from shooting.

There's no large cities in Hawaii and 626 is stuck with water everywhere. In the diner, Jumba lure 626 with a chicken. It bite Pleakley and Nina quickly pour water on 626. She lost her job because of this.

Jumba and Pleakley camp out to wait for 626 to give up. It has nothing to wreck and read a book Ugly Duckling. Lilo explain to him the duckling is happy when his family found him as he know where he belong.

Cobra came again and know Nina is jobless. 626 throw a book at him. He want her to find a job and 626 to be a model citizen. Lilo teach 626 about Elvis songs and dancing. But it screw up every job interview for Nina.

626 volunteer to go surfing and Jumba is surprise. He capture 626 when they are riding the waves. 626 drag Lilo down and nearly drown. David manage to save 626 back on shore. Cobra saw everything and say Lilo have to leave her for her good sake.

626 left Lilo bringing the book along. She say she will remember everyone who left her. Her parents died in a road accident. Jumba and Pleakley are fired and Captain Gantu is task to capture 626. Jumba is gonna use his own shooting method to capture 626.

It run back to find Lilo. She call Cobra and says aliens is attacking Stitch. The house is destroy and Lilo is taken by Cobra. Nina argues with him and she escape. 626 pass the partial burnt family photo to Lilo and reveal his true form.

She push it away. Captain caught them both easily and left. 626 escape and Nina ask him questions. Then Jumba caught 626 and bounded him. Nina ask them how to get Lilo back but they can't help. 626 mention Ohana to her and make Jumba release him to help get Lilo back.

They take the spaceship and chase after Captain. 626 crash into the cockpit and throw the Captain out. He shoot the ship and 626 save Lilo before it exploded. They landed on the sea. When they reach shore, 626 is capture by the Councilwoman.

626 says his name is Stitch and want to say goodbye. Cobra tell Lilo to show the adoption paper to councilwoman as owner of 626. Cobra was CIA agent back in Roswell 1973 and councilwoman knows him. She sentence 626 in exile on Earth life sentence and the family taking care of Stitch is under the protection of the United Galactic Federation.

After she left, Cobra says he save the Earth back then by convincing mosquito are endangered species. Jumba and Pleakley also stay behind and everyone is happily together.
