Review of Like Stars on Earth (2007) by Seher K — 20 Jun 2008
For some odd reason, I have never appreciated any of aamir khan's movie promos. and maybe that is the very reason why his movies just take me in by a surprise and I cant get over em for a very long time.
Very deceiving on the outside it has to be said. the chords of my inner being were miraculously tickled at instances. I had lumps in my throat at Darsheel?s portrayal of Ishaan. Aamir hit himself yet again with his perfectionist self. A marvel to savour indeed!!
It takes more than just courage to make a movie like this in this world of commercialism. nevertheless aamir took up on a simple subject and simply executed it towards a superb masterpiece.
To sum it up it has been one of the best movies I have seen to date. Ishaan is a sureshot success. some of the scenes worth gaping at, one, when ishaan?s father comes to boording school trying to explain that he and his wife are not indifferent towards their kid. second, When Aamir starts saying abt ppl who have a problem , ishaan thinks its about him but is surprised to hear Einstein?s name instead of his. The anxiousness of the teacher when Ishaan does not appear on the competition day and then on the announcement of the winner... WOW!! that is how close it gets to life. Everything was so like life. Aamir keeps the awe-struck metabolism of the audience alive and hardly falls short ever.
