Review of Like Stars on Earth (2007) by Jessica P — 21 Jun 2008
Bollywood has long awaited a movie that actually confronts a mostly avoided subject in Indian films- the movie captures, quite beautifully, the attitudes towards any psychological disorder being percieved as almost insulting towards the parents whose child suffers from any disorder.
..it approaches this sensitive topic through the eyes of parents brought up in culture that measures success by how much you can memorize at school- results not effort are at the fore front of every task a child is set to.
more importantly it highlights the world through the eyes of child who suffers the rejection of this success based culture. Aamir and Darsheel are amazing actors. This is a beautiful movie...i wish that bollywood made more movies like these- movies that actually affect and change ideas!
