It's breezy. It's light. It's Saturday, it's perfect for Netflix. So much better than what they've been putting out lately.... This is not my kind of genre at all. But I still gave it 4 stars.
That says A LOT. It's what a good version of this genre should be - adult, funny and smart enough to know how to stay grounded and restrained. When many in this genre get desperate and then descend into silliness, this movie trusts itself and takes it's characters seriously.
No it doesn't re-write the rule, re-invent the genre, change the game.... but that's what every movie has to do. Which is where I think most of these critics get it wrong positive and negative - they review every movie through the same lens.
