Review of Like Dandelion Dust (2009) by Cheryl B — 13 Apr 2011
Compelling Drama about an adoption case that falls apart after 6 years when it is learned the biological father never signed the papers and now decides he wants his child back. Barry Pepper gives an excellent performance as the biological father who never knew he was a father until he gets out of jail after 6 years for abusing his then girlfriend, Wendy.
Mira Sorvino plays the enabler type who sticks with her abusive boyfriend through thick and thin. For anyone who has adopted children this film might be a nightmare of how adoption should never be. This is a very emotionally charged film complete with an adorable child caught in the middle of a parental tug-of-war.
This is not a perfect film but I found the acting of Pepper and Sorvino the highlight which takes this film from ordinary to exceptional.
