Review of Like Crazy (2011) by Ryan G — 02 Mar 2012
I feel the plot and target audience of this film can be accurately summised in this whispered conversation from the couple sitting behind me, whilst an argument plays on on screen between the leading couple:
"This is a great movie. Jason, can you relate to the emotions being expressed by him?".
For girls looking to educate their partner in the appropriate romantic actions through a relationship, it is perfect. For everyone else, whilst there are plenty of wispily beautiful scenes, with artful direction combined with romantic sountrack, there is a complete lack of character development for anyone on screen. As a 90 minute film, it is disaapointing hole, as it would not have taken much for director/writer Drake Doremus to develop the characters more, so the audience could build a deeper sense of connection.
