Review of Like Crazy (2011) by Greg W — 10 Mar 2012
Strange that this one has nearly 75% critics recognition and approval yet I did not enjoy it as much. It is the story of Anna (Felicity Jones), a bright and fiery young writer in her last year of college in Los Angeles where she meets Jacob (Anton Yelchin), a quiet and shy young carpenter studying furniture design.
Modern times being what they are itâ(TM)s Anna who makes the first move, writing a love letter to Jacob inviting him out on a date, where the two find they have an instant, undeniable and passionate connection.
So far so good but Anna is not a US citizen and after graduation her student visa will expire, forcing her to return back to London. This battle for love spans several years as Anna and Jacob both grow and change and come together and drift apart â" try to find love elsewhere only to struggle with the inescapable magnetism of true love.
In my personal opinion I have seen better, more powerful, inspiring and amazing love stories on film. This one just isn't one of them. So I remain neutral on whether to recommend or not.
