Review of Like Crazy (2011) by David S — 28 Mar 2012
Much as I recognize the skill set involved in making this film, and the actors involved. I can not say I enjoyed much of it at all. As someone who understands the wholesomeness of relationship, and appeal of true and open communication, this movie just wrenched my heart out.
I wasn't even sympathetic for the characters, in honesty with all the stupid stuff they did, I hoped they got what they deserved. I live in the States, I would never dream of overstaying my visa, even if it meant I had to be away from my fiancee for a few months.
This is a story of selfishness, not a story of love. Like Crazy? Yeah, seriously, these characters had no idea what it took to have a successful romance and to commit to each other. The people whose lives I felt most sorry for? The English guy, and the American girl (Jennifer Lawrence) who both got screwed over by selfish people who could not make the hard decisions.
