Review of Like Crazy (2011) by Jamie R — 10 May 2012
Very good movie about young love and the challenge of a long distance relationship. The film's ending is heart-touching, heart-wrenching, and true to life - both lovely and painful. I've got a crush on Anna/Felicity Jones! Anna is smart, yearning, cursed (but not too deeply) with self-awareness.
She embraces possibilities yet to come. Jacob is less sharply defined. He is vaguer, less moored than Anna, a tide to her moon. Like Crazy captures the lovers' air of winsome melancholy, of hopes met and unmet.
It recognizes that love is an elegant, volatile, capricious substance, for which we human beings are frail and imperfect vessels of it its equivocal conclusions.
