Review of Like Crazy (2011) by Jc E — 29 Mar 2012
Like the title, this movie might drive you, like, crazy. Yes, it's got likable leads in Anton Yelchin (The Beaver) and Felicity Jones (The Tempest), but their characters are very frustrating. Yes, they make a cute couple, but they obviously aren't meant to be.
It's all or nothing with these two, and you'd think by the third very big breakup, they would have figured it out. It's really too bad that Jennifer Lawrence (The Beaver) also got dragged into this mess, because her character (and also Charlie Bewley's - 'The Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn - Part I') is completely shortchanged by the lead couple's full on-full off needy relationship.
And as if that weren't enough, the pretentious direction from Drake Doremus and "artsy" shaky camera techniques of John Guleserian don't make matters any better. It's one of those movies that got a lot of art house credit, but I should have known better than to trust the reports.
