Review of Lights Out (2016) by Anthony K — 05 Oct 2016
Extremely fun and effective horror film that trades on the better part of its modern-classic genre predecessors (especially J-Horror tropes) but combines with an American sensibility to create something fresh.
From the creature design to the believable characterization and performances, Lights Out does just about everything right. But far and away the best part of this film is its pacing; at a lean 81 minutes you never get a chance to get bored of its bottled settings, and by keeping the sequence of events at a day and a half or so, room isn't left for the requisite horror film plot holes.
This is PERFECT midnight viewing through and through!
