Review of Lights Out (2016) by Richard S — 28 Dec 2016
This was one of the most impressive horror films from a debut director that I have ever seen and I will certainly be seeking out some of his short films on the strength of this. It's a simple premise that is pulled off with such brilliance it will be a classic horror that I keep going back to.
It's one that I missed at the cinema but I found it just as effective watching it at home. I love horror films but very few truly scare me or even make me jump because the genre is populated with so many cliches I can usually see the scares coming a mile away but this was surprising, terrifying and had such a gut punch of an ending that it's not one that will easily be forgotten.
