Review of Lights in the Dusk (2006) by Eric R — 02 Mar 2011
A film about a night watchmen who spends his nights patroling the city streets. He meets a nice woman, only to discover later that she was nice to him just to gain access for a jewelry theft. Aki Kaurismaki's film center's on one man's loneliness.
His static style, where he lets the camera linger on objects is prevalent as well. Its pretty surprising to me how much I could empathize with this character because his performance is so cold, but it really does work.
