Review of Lifeboat (1944) by Jason R — 01 Jan 2008
It does what 12 Angry Men did, (well, this movie came first, so I guess it would be vice versa), it focuses less on the setting and more on the people in the setting. It takes something barren as the ocean, and puts a single boat on it full of people who're mad hungry for food and retribution.
Slowly the characters become hateful and lose a part of themselves. They try hard to hold on and keep their charisma and stamina. There's plenty of comedy as well, so dont worry about it being too dramatic, in fact, there are probably more laffs than tears.
Tallulah Bankhead stands out in this movie as a tour de force of her own! The rest of the cast give 100% pure drama and pure acting!
